1. Henry Sexbomb Rollins is coming to town soon and my mother gifted me with 2 tickets that she spent $690 on!!! DO NOT ASK, I have nooooo_nooooooo_none idea at all how this occured. She doesn't care either, she pisses on money.
In his current talky tours, Hank claims he is single and looking for a woman who reads. Mom recommends I sit through the show with my nose in a book.
2. Chuck Palahniuk. I finished his latest, Snuff and I hope this will do as a recommendation: I finished it in 1 day. He is wild. Now I need to finish Choke to prepare for the coming-soon film.
3. Watchmen still: Look at the double portion of side-vagina cleavage! Sweet Lord that looks...just uncomfortable.
4. Queen Karen O has a new project called Native Korean Rock and I love it, though I dream of new YYYs. Click spoiler for a cool performance, including a Doors cover. She has such good taste.
5. Last week I read dear Rollins' Now Watch Him Die: collected works surrounding his best friend's murder and the violent attempt on his life. I recommend it: so, so, so raw, honest, brutal, sad. Really bare bones. I was impressed.
6. I'm the only person I've heard of so far who didn't care for The Dark Night. I found it long and boring and Batman's voice was so stupid. Like a wrestler's! However of course: yes, yes, yes, Ledger is totally amazing and in case you didn't notice, Aaron Eckhart is wildly hot. My favorite bit was the nurse ensemble.
7. Want to hear the amazing collaborative track with Pharrell, Julian Casablancas (The Strokes) & Santogold (she is my latest subject of interest: very hot music)? It's the new Converse commercial and it's really rad. Click spoiler.
8. Current reading is an out of print bio on Janis Joplin. I just Amazon'd the following books:
Rollins : See A Grown Man Cry * Black Coffee Blues * Solipsist
Bret Easton Ellis : The Informers
Palahniuk : Choke
Dishwasher Pete: DISHWASHER! Yeah yeah yeah! Soooooooo recommended!
How Sassy Changed My Life : yes, a book lovin' on glorious Sassy Magazine! Oooh!
Some bio of Sexbomb Rollins. I'm sure it will be terrible but I tend to devour books in a day or two, so I need to keep my supply steady.
9. Current classic obsessively played album is Thin Lizzy's almighty Jailbreak and current song I sing all around the house is "Naked If I Want To" by Cat Power, which leads me to #10.
10. I finally saw Juno and believe it lived up to the hype. I'll admit it: I cried over the framed you-know-what (don't want to spoiler in case other living-under-rock folk haven't seen it) and was particularly touched by the usage of Cat Power's Sea of Love-wonderfully, impressively placed. I enjoyed it.
Close out:
A clip of Rollins screaming about how he hates dating. It's hilarious.
