Firstly, I just want to thank all of you that went to http://www.savethex.com to show your support in keeping the big scary corporate company away from the little college radio station. Thank you a million times over. The deadline is February 3rd, so there's still some time.
Secondly, I'd like to address the issue of SG's format. Now I know not everyone can be happy, but this is my personal opinion whether it matters or not.
In a perfect world, New Girl Fridays would be re-instated. Ever since the one-new-girl and one-veteran-girl setup, I've noticed a steady decline in the comments areas for the girls. While I am aware this is not a popularity contest, and as someone who is currently working toward SG status, it is highly intimidating. Putting yourself out there takes a lot of courage, and I would hate to see any of that discredited.
For example, today's sets. Both girls are gorgeous, and both sets are shot decently. But lets take a look at the comments.
SG Veteran Synnove comments: 265 and climbing.
SG n00b Pekoe comments: 135 and steady.
It's unfortunate to take the 'concentration' (if you will) away from each girl. The worst part of it is, I bet most people will not remember what the beautiful Pekoe looks like come Friday.
I'm aware that by re-instating New Girl Fridays, limbo girls will have to wait much longer for their set to go up. But maybe thats a good thing. Maybe SG can afford to be a little bit more strict with their choice of girls, and sets. I've seen a handful of girls in the past little while that didn't appeal to me whatsoever, I didn't think they were SG material (good thing I'm not in charge, yeah yeah). They just didn't have the attitude that jumped out at me. And I have to admit that yesterday's set quality left a lot to be desired. Grainy and dark, no personality. It's discouraging, especially when I know a lot of the SG Hopefuls are sending in sets that are being rejected because of the 'quality' of the photos. To see yesterday's set is just a little contradictory.
I'd much rather see quality than quantity. I would be happy to wait longer to see my set go up, rather than seeing it go up tomorrow with horrible photo quality, or just not at all.
Nobody comments on my entries when they're this long, so if you've read this far... thanks.

I wasn't a member when there was New Girl Fridays, but it sounds like it was a great idea.
Good luck going pink!!
