Yesterday, I went to Vancouver with Matt and had all-you-can-eat sushi for $15.99 but only ended up eating about $5 worth. There was a sticker on a crosswalk post that said, "GLEN YOUNG IS A FAT CUNT." which I found hilarious because a) I know a Glen Young, and b) he is neither fat, nor a cunt (okay well maybe sometimes).
We parked at the New West station and travelled the city via Skytrain, which I always get a small joy out of. We went for a walk around downtown and stumbled upon the Art Gallery, which had its interior windows lit up with flashing blue lights, it looked amazing. Like an experimental labratory out of a horror movie. We walked up the steps to stop and smoke a joint and came upon a gaggle of drunk punks, one who couldn't stop pointing at me because of my suicidegirls hoodie. He just kept talking. Then I almost fell down the cement stairs in the pouring rain, luckily I regained by balance before bad things happened.
We got soaking wet.
Went to the Rock Shoppe and fawned over some insanely expensive merchandise. I fell in love with a coffin purse. Matt got a Danzig flag (which rules). Went into a body piercing shop and got checked out by the cute girl working the counter. A+. Found a comic book shop which I told Matt not to let me enter because I simply would have spent all of my moving-away-money. So much NMBC stuff. And some pretty cool Advent Children figurines. Just... so much stuff.
Then we stood in line for Opeth and got even more drenched. It was awesome.
The concert, right right. STREETS opened. How fucking bizarro. Fireball Ministry weren't very good, but they had a super hot girl playing guitar (not bass!) wearing a very short leather skirt. Opeth kicked my ass. They played a really powerful set, I was impressed. (I didn't fall asleep this time!) Although my feet were killing me at the beginning of the set so I had to give up my spot at the front gate and retire to a seat at the bar. A dude and his girlfriend kept trying to buy me drinks and come and sit in their private booth thing because I was by myself. Ha. ha. Anyways. I think they played 100% better at this show than they did at Sounds. Too bad they wanted $70 for a flipping hoodie.
The show ended at about 1:10am, the last Skytrain was leaving at 1:30... we hauled ass to the station just in time. Breezed through coatcheck (luckily). Fell asleep on the ride. Drove to Langley and had breakfast at Dennys at like 2:30 or something. Mmm Dennys. That's one thing I miss about home. Shitty food at kinda high prices, but they're open 24 hours and serve breakfast all day. I miss those Dennys nights.
We got home at about 3ish and CRASHED until 2pm today. I feel like hell and I'm still tired.
I love Vancouver.
The end.
