Such a beautiful day today.
I went out and picked up some toys for my nephew's 3rd birthday next week and found a little curiosity. I was just walking through Toys R Us to get a feeling for my other nephew's birthday which is a couple of months and on the other side of the store I found a little robot thingy. I've always been a little fascinated by robots ever since I was a kid and they had these little things called 'Ants'. It's a little motorized crawling thing that bounces off walls and things to mimic the movement of a bug. Unfortunately they should have called it 'Cockroach' since that's what it looked like and would seem to mimic better. I thought it was cool, but was too reminiscent of a current situation I have to contend with in a first floor apartment with the weather change. Forgetting that however, right next to it was a smaller little one in a tube called a 'Nano'. While still bug like it was intriguing. I shrugged it off and went back to the Thomas the Tank aisle and spoke to my mother and sister to make sure I was getting stuff that worked with what he already has (the Take Along stuff is what he has already not the wooden or Trackmaster for those of you in the know
even though I think the expensive wooden ones had the better sets
). I picked up a handful of engines and cars since he has plenty of tracks and went to get into the checkout line and suddenly decided to pick up one of those Nanos since they were only $9. I got it home and it is a novel use of the technology I will say that. Basically it's a little rotating weight that makes it move and bounce of objects and turn itself right side up if it gets flipped on a flat surface, sorry it doesn't work on carpets
.
For a better look at what I'm talking about check out their site:
Hexbug
I wish that the store had some of the other types although prices did vary from the store and the site. Anyway with the Nanos they have a code that you can register and that took me to another site:
Hand and Stars
Although it didn't seem like much in substance it was a cool little site, if you're into finding things and figuring out puzzles. I spent a good hour on it and if not for "other"
sites that I wanted to visit, this one included, I probably would have stayed even longer.
If you're interested you can check out what I have talked about and if not that's cool too.
Oh by the way, the rotation of the Nano creates a very intense vibration which is what it's supposed to do, but an adult could see other uses for it
.Laughably that is why I picked it up, just to show my friends the interesting use of technology.
