i have taken on a new bike project. it's progressing well and moving at a decent pace. between an old harley panhead project or an old bmw project, i went with the bmw. i'd always wanted a vintage bmw ever since i knew what a motorcycle was. that and i happen to love working on bikes and turning them into something i want to keep until it dies.
with the help of a friend i brought the '71 r75/5 home from the shop and parked it in my overfilled garage. i'm sure my neighbors were amused at me shuffling 2 bikes to get a third in there. the bike is in decent running order and decent cosmetic shape. it could use new carbs and an exhaust. it could use a new paintjob and some chrome polishing. i need to replace the drum brakes with disc brakes. i estimate i'll have everything or close to everything done by next summer. my overall plan is to turn it into a really eurotrash cafe racer.
whee, bikes.

The R75 cafe project sounds kick-ass.
