I've bought quite a bit of music recently, much of it quite good. If you're into things heavy and possibly metal, this may interest you.
Arcturus: Sideshow Symphonies: Dark, keyboard-laced Scandinavian metal. The vocals are weird, like the guy decided to switch pitch all throughout the songs. It doesn't sound bad, but it doesn't sound just right. Pretty much what I would expect from this band though, they aren't afraid to experiment.
Unearth: III In the Eyes of Fire - New skool thrash, but with a brutal hardcore edge. I've really grown to like this band over the years.
Souvenir's Young America: Self-Titled - This is a really awesome post-rock instrumental band (similar to Mono and GY!BE) from Virginia with brutally heavy breakdowns. I've been waiting for this one for awhile and it hasn't disappointed at all. Click here for a taste. Also, check out BOSSK if you're into this kind of thing.
BATTLES: Tras, EP B and C EP - 3 short instrumental CDs of rhythmic experimental and organic sounding rock. Hard to describe, but it's pretty cool in the right mood.
Ihsahn: The Adversary - The King from the Emperor of Black Metal returns with his solo album, which sounds essentially like where Emperor left off. Awesome artwork and the music is supreme.
The Alter Boys: The Exotic Sounds of the Alter Boys - Jazzy, funky, lounge metal. Great lyrics and vocal diversity. Horns! Keyboards! Heavy fucking guitars! All wrapped up in one package.
Coming soon: Mastodon, Theatre of Tragedy, and I forget what else I want to buy right now...
