Went to a Grrrl Power music fundraiser/awareness thing at the Cowboy Monkey last night. 12 bands played twenty minutes each. The only stipulation for the bands was at least one song had to be a cover of a female-fronted band. I have to say, the music was a litle too pop punky for my tastes, but it was for a good cause. This group is holding events all over the midwest to teach young ladies how to skateboard, drum, fix cars, and the more. Kind of an empowerment thing and I my guess is it will help a few with esteem. Very admirable in my book.
