so i was at this bar early last night, the cat club, on sunset, my friend is the bartender. It turns out the drummer from the stray cats - Slim Jim Phantom - owns the bar right? (this place makes jumbo's clown room look big) and they've got all this equipment set up for some kinda video shoot. and in walks none other than mutherfuckin' Lemmy 'Motorhead' Kilminster. I about shit my hat. He was looking ragged and fucked up as ever, but it was great seeing him. fuckin' Lemmy! Anyways, turns out he's got some new group that kicks ass, i do have to say. Very nice sound, almost rockabilly. Lemmy is actually singing, the bassist is tearing it up and Slim Jim is holding the drums down, drumming standing up, how fuckin' dope is that? That guy has got natural rhythm coming out the yin-yang. So I do a little research and it turns out that they have an album out and another one either just came out or will be coming out soon, under the name "Lemmy, Slim Jim and Danny B". Amazing stuff, very very tight. This is not some sloppy-ass rocker shit. these guys are all super-tight musicians.
Anyways, for some reason, i'm totally infatuated with the old metal scene at the moment. i'm not so much into the music but the sunset blvd. lore, when i first came to LA i rebelled from all that, so maybe it's my own attempt to come to piece with this crazy city. i never got into that metal shit as a kid, i was too busy listening to the cure and the violent femmes....
