so its 'world youth day' here in toronto, which actually lasts 2 or 3 days or something. i'm trying to stay as oblivious as i can. all i know is that there are zillions of catholic teenagers roaming around town, searching for the pope in some kind of demented scavenger hunt. or not. like i said, oblivious.
this morning they were marching by my house, shouting the ghostbusters theme song (?!) and wearing matching backpacks. the main parade route is two blocks away from here, so it's pretty loud and obnoxious most of the day. it makes me remember being 14.
my favourite neighbourhood pub is right on the corner of the parade route. most of their business has been driven away becaus the city has blocked off all streets surrounding the route. i walked by yesterday afternoon. they had placed a big chalkboard sign out on the pavement that advertised, "come on inside for a GUILT-FREE pint." haha, zing!
so with all the hubbub and commotion, i'm planning to escape the city this afternoon and go hiking on the niagara escarpment. i'll be much happier when the city's back to normal-- roving packs of drunk students rather than roving packs of churchy kids. the drunks are easier to deal with.

children marching together chanting anything sorta freaks me out, in the same way I'm scared of clowns.
that's great that you are getting into firespinning. I'm still learning, but my girlfriend is hardcore into it. Its soooo sexy to watch someone spin fire. I love the sound it makes when you spin fire "WHOOSH-ROAR"
take it easy.
