Well, I've tried blogging every two weeks or so, but here I am about a month later from that last one. But it's okay, because I'm not a terribly interesting person, so there's never much to say. Work's been rough, I've been working most Sundays lately because we're kinda shorthanded and no one else wants to work Sundays. It's left me with some extra money, and I've been taking two nights off work instead of my usual one, so it's overall been worth it. I'm just tired of being in uniform so much, especially when I hate uniforms in general.
My Independence Day was pretty fun. My family went out with a guy my mom works with onto his boat, and I just did some reading while they played out in the water. I read "Conservative Insurgency" by Kurt Schlichter, and it's written as an oral history about how liberals ruin the country and constitutional conservatives fix it. Yes, yes, I said that dreaded C-word: conservative. Except he's not talking about those GOP idiots who put their feet in their mouths at every opportunity, because frankly they're part of the problem. Kurt means conservatives who believe that the Constitution is very much relevant today, and that if it's not in there then it's not the federal government's concern or problem. It's very much a "life, liberty, pursuit of happiness" ideology first, with any Christian ideas coming out through cultural changes instead of political or legal maneuvering. I've thought of myself as a libertarian, but after reading this book I might just be a constitutional conservative. We're really not as bad as you think, folks.
My RPG group is shifting gears again, because our current GM wants someone else to take the reigns. Another guy might take over our Star Wars game, but if he doesn't I'm preparing to run a Firefly game. I got the book a while back, but never got to play a game with it, so I've been refreshing my memory and preparing for everyone to make characters on the 19th. After that, I've got another two weeks to prepare a session and/or campaign. I haven't run too many games, and I think this'll be my 3rd, but it's a challenge I'm kinda looking forward to.
Let's be bad guys.
