Hello hello everybunny!!
I hope all is well wherever in the world you may find yourself.
I've been pretty lax with blogging this year but I have been lurking on the site almost daily, taking in all the amazing Goddesses that fill these pages.
Sadly, I have also noticed an uptick in people being less than kind.
I understand that alternative beauty isn't for everyone. People like what they like and that's perfectly okay. But that's no reason to be nasty.
I've seen some set comments over the past few weeks that left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. And I thought I'd take a moment
to address this unfortunate occurrence.
Firstly, isn't that why we're here?
To celebrate marginalised or often overlooked types of women?
I've basically memorized all of SG's promo videos and in the inaugural introduction video, it pretty clearly says:
"We do not strive to be like everyone else. What other people said makes us strange or weird or fucked up, we think is what makes us beautiful"
So why then, should we be faced with the same amount of hatred and intolerance here as we are out there in the world?
SG is a safe place, at least in my personal experience. We are a loving and supportive community that uplifts, encourages, and appreciates the beauty in each other in all our forms.
There is no place for hateful rhetoric here and I would ask that you don't bring it.
Shooting a set takes serious balls. It's not easy to put all your insecurities and imperfections on display for all the world to see. It's devastating when people then multiply them by leaving unwarranted or harsh comments on your set.
Remember, the models in those sets are people too. They have feelings, just like you. And the things you say do hurt.
Please remember that when leaving comments.
To all my SuicideSisters, you ARE beautiful. You are perfect in your imperfections and flawless in your flaws.
You are not the horrible things people say about you, you are not the horrible things you say about yourself.
I love you all and thank you to every person here who has given me the confidence to continue to take up space in this world and be unapologetically and unashamedly myself. Regardless of what people say.
I would like to end this blog of with a screenshot of a message I recently sent to a new member who decided to comment on a set with the word "Disgusting".
Thank you all for being a part of my SG journey.
I wish you all the love and light you deserve.
Remember, it costs nothing to be kind.
Much love,
A grateful SG Veteran
