So I decided to check out "Attack on Titan" to see why people like it so much, and I can tell you all right now, that I am 100% emotionally invested in both the manga and anime series it's based on.
It's actually rare that I watch anime nowadays (I watched a LOT when I was a kid/teen), but it struck my interest and here we are.
I've been tearing through the manga like crazy, and I started watching the anime a few days ago, and let me tell you...the anime is a solid adaptation of the manga, and I am also impressed with the English dub. The actors/actresses give it their all, and the horrifying part isn't when someone dies, it's the screams that precede it.
Also, as a screenwriter/filmmaker, I really appreciate how they go out of their way to cut away from said deaths; you still see the blood, but it's not to the extent, or as graphic, as the manga. I also LOVE how they use the camera to make dramatic scenes of action that caused the hair on the back of my neck to stand up.
Going back to the performances for a second, the direction the voice actors/actresses were given is felt through their performances and even managed to hit me in the feels at times.
If you haven't checked out either the manga or the anime series, I highly recommend that you do.
It's totally worth it.
