The two people who are supposed to unconditionally love their child, called you worthless for losing a chance to find employment.
When I found out that your parents had kicked you out of your home following their verbal castration of such a beautiful soul, and that you slept in your car at a rest area for the night, I chastised you for not calling me.
I would have put you up until things cooled down. It was the least I could do for a friend. It was the least I could do for one of the most important people in my life.
Later on, as I was writing, I looked up the nearest florist in Fairlawn. The following Monday, you would find lavender roses on your doorstep. The card would contain a line from the script, and it would be signed by the character who says it.
“Because roses were her favorite.”
You took a picture of the flowers and sent it to your brother, and he replied saying that he thought them very beautiful.
Afterwards, you would try to argue that it should only be you getting me things, and I won the argument by saying “if you’re going to give me things to say that you care, then I’m going to do the same thing. You’re someone who means the world to me, and I want you to know that I will always care.”
You would spend the rest of your day painting with the flowers by your side.
