Part 1
It was the first and only full day that we would spend together.
I left work feeling depressed, so I texted you about it. Before I reached my car, you send a text back telling me to come pick you up, and that we were going to “defeat depression together!” After providing me with your address, I headed over to your place.
I got out of my car while you were exiting your garage, and what followed was magical. You ran at me shouting “Jaclyn!!!” while I ran at you shouting your name. We collided in a tight embrace, your impact against my body almost knocking us into the snow.
You immediately shoved a purple yoga mat into my arms excitedly saying “Here’s a yoga mat! Do you do yoga!?”
“I...do not,” I replied, “but I can always learn.”
“Okay, sweet!!!”
I tossed the mat into the backseat while you got into the car. I couldn’t imagine any actual yoga in my future, but you really wanted me to have it, and I wasn’t going to refuse your gift.
In the car, you were tossing a stone back and forth in your hands. “It’s a grounding stone. My friend gave it to me to borrow. He made me promise that I wouldn’t drop it.”
The moment you got to the “t” in the word “it,” you dropped the stone in between the seats.
It’s still there...
