I’m sitting in front of my laptop with Highland 2 open, the screenplay displayed on the screen. I’m finishing a dream that the lead character is having where she gets to experience another life; one that she could’ve had had things worked out differently and different choices were made.
It’s a sad sequence, but one that keeps with the theme of the narrative: saying goodbye and letting go.
And that’s what she’s doing. Letting go of a memory, a woman she had come to love, and a future she desperately wanted that is now only a dying dream; one that she has to let go of so she can heal her broken heart, and start on a new path in her journey through life.
