The weather where I live in Alaska is at the point where I'll be able to start riding my new bike regularly.
After completing the MSF course last fall, I bought a new 2005 motorcycle -- the price was right. Juneau is cut off from any road system, which means that it is accessible only by boat or plane. Thus, I had the bike dlivered via barge from the dealer in Seattle. It arrived in a crate ... disassembled. There were no assembly instructions. I put it together by referencing the shop manual that I down-loaded from the web.
I attached the throttle cable to the wrong detent in the throttle housing, but it took me a while to figure out the problem. It turns out that the same attachment plate is used on multiple models, each with its own separate attachment point. By the time I got things straightened out, it had started to snow, and I couldn't ride.
That was maddening, but at least now I can start getting to know the bike.
