On Friday we had a group of friends come over and cook us dinner for our anniversary. They happen to be japanese so we had a wonderful feed of sushi, sweet egg rolls, fried potato cakes, tofu-shallot and shitaki soup topped of with a nice bottle of goshu sake.YUM YUM! I was so grateful for all the trouble they had gone to, but lacked the words to describe. Then after dinner they bought out the big guns. My beautiful friend Maiko presented me with the sweetest gift.....my own Yukata. Which is a type of cotton summer Kimono worn to summer festivals. She had asked her mum to buy one in Japan and send it over. I felt so spoilt and pampered as Maiko dressed me in this gorgeous outfit. There I was all 177 cm of me towering over my 3 beautiful 5 foot tall friends Erica, Maiko and Taiko as the Yukata was fitted and the 3 meter long Obi was precisely wrapped around my waist and tied at my back in am intricate bow.
After I was dressed Erica, Maiko and Teiko all cheerfully sighed in unison as only Japanese girls can. Obviously pleased with there handy work, delighted they led me to the mirror. Where we all stood and giggled and clapped like school girls at the sight of me in traditional Japanese dress. I cant explain how honoured I felt that Maiko had done this for me. I was overwhelmed. Then we all took many photos and I jumped around the house like and idiot and made everyone laugh. I was sooooo happy, humbled and excited all rolled into one! Weve decided that soon well have to have a Yukata party so everyone can get all dressed up. Yay!!!!!!!!!!
Saturday all Australians had to do there duty and vote. About an hour into the counting of the ballots in Tasmania it was already clear who was going to be the victor. Mr John Howard an his coalition. Bla!!!! So now we have 4 more years of an extremely conservative government. Headed by a man with George Bushes hand firmly shoved up his ass. As fate would have it, on exactly the same day as our election Afghanistan was at the start of there 1st democratic election. Which little Johnny C(H)oward wasted no time in taking full credit for (not without the help of his best buddies) in his acceptance speech to the nation. Bla Bla Bla! Now we must wait to see how the American and the English public choose to vote. If the Australian election is any indication, itll be more of the same. Little Johnny Coward, Bully boy Bush and Mr Phoney Blair heading what should be called the coalition of the corrupt. Lastly but not least I urge you all to have your say and vote.

On the Japanese topic... My Brother is about to move to Japan. He was engaged to a woman over there. But she ended up finding someone else sometime in between their a visit over Xmas and his trip over there for his job interview. Not so sad as actually I didn't like her much she was sorta dumb, and well not very cute which is hard to not be cute when your Japanese. He is still planing on taking the job and moving there. I can't wait to have someone in Japan to buy me clothes and video games and animation So I am curious, do you two eat fish? or do you stick to veggie rolls?
I'm so so so sorry to hear about the election I know how devastating that sorta thing can be. I've talked to many people down there that are very liberal, the um pot growing sort and it always shocks me when I see how right wing the politics have been there. When Bush won here 4 years ago we looked into immigration to Canada but in the end decided it was not worth it to just run, and that we had to fight back and leaving didn't solve anything. That getting Bush out was more important then voting "a liberal" in again in Canada and that we could make more of a difference here with our vote. Luckily we live in a left wing pocket of the U.S. John Howard the horrible.. blah!
BTW- What's the Family First's party? The name scares the Jesus out of me. Errrr not that there's any Jesus in me....
