Today, we're feeling good about the future. . . I had a good interview today for a job I didn't want going in, but did want (and felt good about getting) walking out. I found out that I might have hooked up a writer friend with a manager and an aspiring actor with a few gigs. I saw my other aspiring actor friend in her first play, and she impressed the shit out of me (when your friend acts in a play or film like you've never seen them before, that's how you know whether they've got chops or not). Vegas rocked, and now, this week will be a quickie, as the girl and I are flying to Chicago Thursday morning for some big-ass wedding. Never been to the Windy City, so I'm psyched. Yo, I've got Friday as a free day. What should I check out there?
Yeah, what happens in Vegas blah blah blah, but that only refers to the stuff you can't afford to be made public. I do want to report on a tremendous fight night, with 2 incredible stretcher job knockouts (while thanking God that nobody was seriously injured), a tapout by Randy Couture, and a definitive first title defense from Chuck Liddell (nevermind that I was rooting for Jeremy Horn). Moreover, I am happy to brag that I drank free Grey Goose at the Wynn until about 2, then went up to the casino bar to meet some other friends, and that I was ready to take it to the daylight, but had to tap out early (3:30am) because my people were dying on me. Oh well. At least I know I still got it. . .
As for the previous post, about the move, while it's still too early to tell what's going to happen, I am realizing that whether we stick together or split up, this is going to make it 100x easier for the both of us. I'm just not sure which result I'm really rooting for. It's funny, because the first few nights she stayed at her place, I really missed her and resented that she didn't want to be here anymore. I know its not as much that as it is that she's simply excited about her place and wants to enjoy it. Hell, who could blame her? But it's difficult to not feel like she's taking back some of what she's invested in this.
And I say this while acknowleding that it was our plan all along for her to have her own place. In the end, she's just getting on her own feet, something not only does she want, but I want for her. I know this isn't about her not participating in Us, but I'd be lying if I said it's not steering me down the road of being on my own again as well.
Enh, there's still some gas left in our tanks. Let's see what town we end up in.
For those of you reality show buffs who haven't discovered it yet, check out THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER 2 on Spike TV. ALL PARTICIPANTS were injured during the taping of this show.
Shout outs this week to Monica on that video, Akemi (love those peepers, boo), and Hera for those sleeves.
