Like many others these days, I have nothing newsworthy or immediate to report. It's been what I would qualify as a generally unproductive week. I've been busy and gotten stuff done, but I wouldn't particularly call it productive. I think this is the blah's of August.
However, I'm in Vegas next weekend for the UFC fight (bet Couture and Trigg) and Chicago the following weekend. I've never been to the Windy City, and I'm ALL ABOUT visiting new cities, so I'm looking very forward to that one.
Been catching a lot of movies over the past few days. Saw Hustle & Flow last night --- much better than 8 Mile, if you ask me. Not that I'm into the idea of glamorizing pimps and prostitution, nor do I relate to the gangsta-thug-bling-bitches-benzos-big-screen-TV themes in hip-hop these days (folks, Atmosphere is about to drop a new album in October, and if you're not already a fan, I highly encourage you to try and catch up), but I was impressed with the camerawork and the acting. . . . in another 70's exploitative opus, I'm giving a thumbs up to The Devil's Rejects for camerawork alone. No, of course these aren't characters we should be cheering, but you can't deny that Rob Zombie's got a directorial style that loves to toast the 70's as much as Quinton Tarantino.
Meanwhile, you can skip Empire Records without any fear of reparcussion. . . Trainspotting still holds up, after all these years. Likewise Event Horizon (I'm one of only 3 people on earth who liked that film). Mr. 3000, enh, entertaining enough, but it ain't no Drumline.
Personally, there's some big relationship changes going on in my life right now. I'm gonna keep the details in the safe deposit box for the time being, but the move thats occuring this weekend will either save or sink this relationship. At this point in time, I don't have much hope for its longevity, and I've felt guilty for hosting that feeling as well as sticking around despite that feeling, but I've also grown used to the feeling that this is part of what relationships and commitment are about. It ain't all chocolate sauce and cheeseburgers every day, is it? But sticking around at the table, getting through the bean sprouts and brocolli, knowing that there's buttery mashed potatoes and some BBQ ribs on their way, that's the sign of a strong relationship, innit? Well, she's a good woman, one who deserves good eats. Hence, I'm cookin' away. But I'm starvin' too yo.
BTW, for those of you keeping track, I weighed out at 218.5 yesterday. Been sticking with cardio and an abs workout each day. Today was a wash, with no exercise and fried food, but we're back on the wagon tomorrow.
Big shout outs to Eliska for her beachside set. Lookin' good, toots.
(Clearly, nevermind that thing I said about nothing newsworthy to report).

How were the fights? Bloody? Catch any flying teeth? Any recommendations on hotels there?
