A merry (Christmas) and happy (Hannaukah / Kwanzaa). Let the skinheads, jihad extremists, orthodoxes, and republicans say what they will -- we all go back to Abraham anyway (and don't you know THAT pisses 'em off somethin' mean?!).
At any rate, cheers to you and yours. I'm happy to report (for the 3 of you that actually read me) that my folks' visit is so far going extremely well. Christmas was especially fun, as we spent the Eve and the Day morning with the girl and a non-couple pair of friends. There was the Midnight Mass (can't help it -- I'm a sucker for the pretty candles and Christmas music), a good load of presents exchange amongst everyone (I mostly scored cash, which was fine since 1) I need it and b) I didn't ask for anything this year), and of all things, DIM SUM Christmas morning. Yeeeaahh booyyee!!!
For those of you in the LA area, if you've never done dim sum, get at me. I always will jump at a good excuse to go, and I love introing people to the cuisine.
Tonight, my folks are staying with friends of theirs here in town, which is why I'm updating on SG. You don't think I'm really gonna be surfing for tatted, pierced nude chicks in my 1-bedroom apartment while Mom reads her Thomas Friedkin book and Dad watches Samurai movies in the other room? Enh, too remniscent of sneaking Playboys into the bathroom while I was in high school. I don't think I could fire off a round unless they were at least 2 city blocks away.
This year is definately a big improvement from last year, which was spent in the household of my newly wedded brother and sister-in-law. . . . I started to vent about them, but you don't want to be bored with the details. Suffice to say they just weren't (and still probably aren't) ready to host a Christmas -- in their 3 floor house. So I'm especially proud to do it in a 1-bedroom apartment without any of us going crazy. Believe it or not. . .
The New Year begins in a few days, and surprisingly enough, I'm encouraged and optimistic. I just transferred dojos today, which I think will kickstart healthier living. Got a new job that I'm digging, big things ahead for the company, and if I'm lucky, I just might be able to start getting my financial legs again. I still think that things with The Girl might get worse before they get better, but I'm pretty confident that we'll make it out alive.
Now's the time when the giant asteroid lands on me, or I get shot in gangland crossfire, isn't it?
Well, if that's the case, please let Bee, Eliska, Allura, Kera+Alexsandria, and Jaime know that I loved their sets. HOO-WAH!!
ps - I absolutely adore this girl.
