Alright, time for a more significant entry than the one I posted yesterday.
First and foremost, I fucking hate being single again. And by fucking hate I mean loathe, despise and revile. I'm one of those types of people who is by far more balanced when I have a significant other in my life. However, it's rather difficult for someone like me to find someone who will ever CONSIDER dating me.
Now I know what you're thinking: "But Jay, you're so cute and honest and understanding, how could you ever have trouble finding someone to be involved with?"
I'm a damn Gamer, that's why. I bear a stigma so great that if this were the Animal Kingdom, the odds of me ever finding a mate would be roughly 100:1 against me. Why is that? Because what I do isn't socially accepted. The second a girl hears that I play in, let alone run, a Live-Action Roleplaying Game they might as well pull out a cross and try to banish me back to hell.
However, I've noticed that girls who date one gamer tend to stick to dating gamers, or completely forsaking us. It's more the former from what I've seen however, because unlike most other guys we treat women with the honor and respect they deserve. Now, the reason for this is two-fold:
1. Most Gamers are kind, polite and just down right nice people. We treat people better than we get treated most of the time because that's just the way we are. Granted, there are those anti-social bitter Gamers who hate everyone, just they're dicks and I know that I pay no heed to them.
2. We look next to us and see a beautiful beacon of shinning raidiance known as a woman, a woman who loves and cares for us. Yet, there we sit playing a video game, card game or roleplaying game. We know that this woman being with us is an HONOR that most men forget or take for granted. We know that you could easily go for that football player two doors down or the guitar player over at Starbucks, but for whatever reason, you're sitting with a Gamer. You're damn right we're going to respect you and treat you like a goddess, because you deserve nothing less.
I've never treated any of my girlfriends with anything but honor and respect. I've never cheated, never lied, never neglected and certainly never demanded. I've brought my girlfriends flowers at work, taken them on imaginative and romantic dates and get-aways...*sigh*
I guess this whole thing is more out of frustration than anything else. I just can't stand being cast aside when someone finds out what my hobby is and assume I'm some kind of freak because of it. Is it really that bad? Is it so unbearable to think of becoming involved with someone who will treat you the way you want to be and deserve to be treated but dorks one day a weekend because it's something they enjoy doing?
I think I've kinda lost where this rant was going, but I think I made a point never the less. If I can think of what the original point of this was, I'll make sure to add it later.
PS. Save your $9 and don't see Cursed. Wes Craven, I'm ashamed of you.
PSS. MUST SEE ROBOT CHICKEN ON ADULT SWIM! THAT SHIT IS FUCKING GREAT!
