so for my birthday, all my parents got me was a case of guinness. not that i'm ungratefull, i love guinness, and i'm sure there are a lot of people that don't get anything for their birthdays.
it's just that, it was just my sister's birthday (she turned 22), and they got her all kinds of clothes and housewares and whatnot. she's great, she deserves it all, it's just that i would think graduating out of teenhood would mean at least something for me?
overall, my parents really know how to make that "you went away to school, so stay away" feeling. besides the birthday thing, i also came home to find a new sofa-sleeper. i was all "kick ass!" because i don't have a room there, so it was a place to sleep. but when i slept on it they were all like "don't sleep on that, we don't have the right sheets for it yet" (who cares about the sheets!?). so i was back to sleeping on a couch or the floor.
what they're really doing is assuring that i'm the "move far away/one phone call on christmas" kind of son.

Well, they must have done something right to raise such a cutiepiesweetyheart.
