This little furr ball is our Mischief, AKA Missy. My wife and I rescued her as a kitten, almost 10 years ago.
As you can see her favorite nap spot is in my gaming share at the computer (she likes to "help" me play Warcraft).
Last spring, she was diagnosed with vaccine associated sarcoma. It's a form of cancer that, as the name implies, is brought on by certain feline vaccines. We went through 2 surgeries, and then a round of "chemo" like injections. They ended up taking about 70% of the tissue in her upper rear leg.
The tough little bugger bounced back, trying to jump on the counters after 2 days, and almost tearing her stitches. Anyway, all the follow ups were clear, until last month.
They've found another tumor, smaller, but close to where the last one was. The last treatment isn't an option anymore, so we are left with two options. Either they amputate her back leg, and hope they get everything, or we let nature run its course.
We've decided to make the best of our time with our girl, and let her tell us when it gets to much for her. In our minds, and hearts, it just wasn't right to take her leg, and make her suffer through surgery, and rehab, just to gain a little more time. Because of the nature of this type of cancer, our vet said that they can't really tell us how long we have yet. So for now, we just hope for the best. 😦💔🐱
