As per my little "tweet" thing...actually, I don't know what to call them on here when it's not a full blog post. I'll make up a name. How about a 'piff?' Sure. That works.
In my last piff, I mentioned finally getting cleared to go back to work only to find out I was laid off. It would have been nice to know ahead of time. When a company "lays people off," generally that's just a nice way of saying "you're fired, but only because we have no need for you right now, and we probably won't anytime soon." Let's not beat around any bushes on that.
At any rate, I found a job literally the next day, and started last week. I went from a steel shop to a foam factory, and I'm just fine with that. They do everything there, and I have already come up with a million foam jokes (it's a cushy job!), so there is that. Oddly enough, I was assigned a desk, which I have never had before, although I am almost never at it. My job involves a lot of moving between areas and helping out where needed, and I prefer to be away from the desk anyway. Too much sitting at work means the day is long, boring, and I'm probably going to go nuts.
It is nice to know that I am a marketable hire, still. Part of my biggest worry when I was taking three years off to care for my grandmother was that I would return to the job market with a meager offering as far as skill sets go when compared to other applicants. This seems to not be the case considering how many callbacks I got from the first and second wave of the The Great 2015 job search.
So, I feel I can relax a bit, knowing that I have a paycheck with no break in income, and continue working on those other goals, which I will probably talk about in the next post. Meanwhile, you can check out some more of my word vomit at Lusipurr.com.
