Well, this is a surprise. Only five weeks into the new career, and I already get a half day with pay. I've got to admit, it's very nice to have a job where that can actually happen, not to mention vacation time, which I have never before had the pleasure of being offered.
Previous to this new job, I have spent about 90% of my life working in restaurants, retail and in-home patient care, none of which ever included any sort of fiscal schedule benefits, or health insurance. Dare I say, I feel like I have a big boy job now, which is rather more okay than I thought it would be. Who knew? Not I, apparently.
It is really odd being back here, and gazing upon my old profile with the hopes that the bad taste will go away soon. Looking upon one's past can sometimes be a bit of an eye opener, and an embarrassing one at that. Not always, of course. In fact, there are some times I can call upon from my younger self where I still feel proud for making a certain decision, or where a failure retroactively taught me a valuable lesson that guides my hand to this very day. Sometimes a mistake is the best tool in your box.
Now that I have an entire afternoon to do whatever I want while still technically on the clock, I'm having a rough time deciding on an activity (and that is an awesome problem to have). Play Bravely Default? Yes. Research and write an article? Sure. Visit my grandmother? Absolutely. Get some delicious treats from the local bakery? Duh.
I will do all those things, today. Well, after I waste some more time exploring SG, of course.
