So, this is indicative of my life of late. I ordered and have been looking forward to the SG Burlesque Tour DVD for a number of weeks. Finally, it arrived and I was much excited to start my weekend with it. However, within second of taking it out of its wrapper and putting it into the laptop, the DVD drive ate it. It's gone, disappearing into my computer before I ever say a second of it!
I can always order another DVD -- though my patience is searing thing -- but can any computer wiz out there advise me how to remove the DVD. Will it prevent me from running other DVDs? As you rightly assume, technology is not my strong suit. But I do want to remove the DVD and hope against hope that:
1. My computer isn't damaged, and
2. The DVD is not damaged.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jeez, sorry to hear that your player ate your DVD. I have no idea what you could do to recover it, so I'll just be pissed on your behalf!
Perhaps you could call the Geek Squad?
