Off all week; our building shuts down this week, which means no one is back at the office, piling up work on my desk and desktop. It is a good week and I intend on being a bum. I do that very well.
I'm not sure why, but every year I like this holiday less and less. But then, it's like a Christmas miracle -- something happens or someone comes along or something pops into my head to make me appreciate the spritual and humane nature of the season. So, two days out, and I'm starting to feel Christmas. And, dammit, it's a good feeling.

Just returned from almost a week in Charlotte, NC. while the southern warmth -- weatherwise -- wasn't obvious, the southern warmth -- peoplewise -- was. It's true what they say about southern charm and graciousness. I will return.

Anxious today and not sure why. Maybe because the holiday season is official now and I find it stressful. Not sure why that is either but it's more and more the case. Also got up this morning to discover no running water, so that's not a good start to a long weekend.
