You know, I've never been too much into art. I mean I read comics, I took art classes up until middle school, but in general I couldn't really get into it. I'd see a picture and go "That's nice" and forget about it five seconds later.
Not to say I had no appreciaton for art. I mean I can look at George Perez's stuff for comics and I'm amazed by how he can draw hundreds of characters on a single page and still make each feel detailed. Or Alex Ross' photo-realistic style. But these tend to be the exception.
So on those few occasions something does catch my attention for more then five seconds I usually sit down and take notice. Once was with Ron Spencer's work for Werewolf: The Apocalypse, of whom I own some of the original work from (well the Rokea book to be specific).
Today I found another. Christopher Shy. I've been familar with Shy's work for a while but usually in black in white where he loses a lot of detail. So when I saw his website and saw some of the stuff he's done... well it's gorgeous. A lot of it reminds me of H.R. Giger's work (the dude who designed the alien from Alien), other seem to have an etheral quality unto itself. I'm not one to gush normally, but I had to buy a print.
I don't know maybe it's just me, but I thought that it's awesome. You can check his stuff out at his website www.studioronin.com
Anyways felt like sharing something that wasn't me moping for once.
