This is my first ever @BLOGHOMEWORK . Thank you @rambo @missy @lyxzen for a topic that is close to my heart.
I have a lot of favourite artists, it's hard to list only a few.
Art has saved my life, more specifically there was a time in my life where I hit rock bottom (one of many).
I decided then and there that if I wasn't going to pursue my dreams, my dream of becoming an artist, model and tattoo artist then there was no point in me being alive, that I was better off killing myself.
So with this in mind, with everything to gain, I pushed onwards onto focusing most my time and energy on art because after all, I was tired of being a person who always dreamed but who was always waiting for the right time.
So from this point I started my journey of being a full time artist and I never looked back. So let me get back to the question.
Some of my favourite tattoo artists are;
Benjamin Laukis
A tattoo artist - now in melbourne. I first saw him at the Rites of Passage Melbourne tattoo expo 2012. I fell in love with his talent instantly and he did my first tattoo. He is one of my main sources of inspiration, he is the one who inspired me to tattoo, I have his voice in my head telling me 'Determination is key'
Tater Tatts
Another Australian tattoo artist. The level of realism, care, perfectionism and techniques of his tattoos are spectacular. He tattooed the leeloo portrait on my leg, I love his work. He is also a incredible human being. I hope to tattoo like him one day.
Carlos Torres and Nikko Hurtado.
Not only are they incredible tattoo artists but they are also fine artists, their paintings and artwork made me want to follow in their footsteps, of combining tattoo art and fine art. Watching Sullen TV's videos help me teach myself how to paint as I picked up different tips and tricks and equipment from them. Also they would take photos of their own painting and tattoo references which is what I hope to achieve one day, inspiring me to pick up my camera again and start taking my own photo references.
Alexandra Mankuyan
Her paintings are stunning, they are both beautiful and dark. She uses a lot of tuelle, pearls, masks, artificial limbs, nuns, as decorations of paintings which gives it that dark edge that I love so. She has attained a level of realism and perfection in her work that I aim again she normally takes her own photographic references. I taught myself how to paint using her painting tutorials as a guide.
Tom Bagshaw
Another incredible digital artist and illustrator. I love his portraits. Also with a dark edge I love the mysterious feel to his work. He also uses a lot of alternative models as references, so they often have piercings, stretched ears and tattoos. Very beautiful.
Natalie Shau
This incredible artist combines photography, art and digital art into spectacular, dark and beautiful, surrealism and realism pieces of art that is nothing short of masterpieces. I would love to get one of her pieces of art (or something inspired by her work) as a tattoo, to keep forever on my flesh.
Catherine Abel
An australian artist who I was blessed enough to meet, and visit her studio up in Trentham, rural victoria. When I lived up there. She studied over in Europe and she is a beautiful fine artist. She has a love for all things art deco, and her level of detail in her work is stunning. She also has a unique touch that brings out the beauty in her subjects that gives every piece, especially the women she paints, a distinct and noticeable edge.
I hope you guys enjoyed my first blog homework. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully you are just as inspired as I am. Xxxxx
