My cousin was in town today for a wedding so I took him on a quickie driving tour of LA this afternoon. Nice to see him! He went to BU law school and stayed with my folks, taking over my room while I was at school in California.
So I decided to buy a bottle of wine at my local liquor store a little while ago. They were closed! Of course it was 11pm on a Sunday but come on! They two block walk was not in vain though cause I found an absolutely awesome (wicked awesome as they say in Boston) 4.5 ft panel of wood with really neat embellished corners in someone's trash heap. I'm gonna prime it tonight and paint something on it.

I fully understand the difficulty getting through Infinite Jest. It's a tough book. And it's certainly better on the second or third reading if you can get that far. Though there's no reason to start from the beginning. The book is structured fractally; any individual part of it makes as good a starting point as the first page does.
