I had a lovely time on Friday on the girls night out with morgannahh and Blacklamb. We went to the Hopetoun and saw morgannahh's friend's band, which was really good and full of eye candy.

I also saw an excellent band this evening. The Handsome Young Strangers, a Newtown 'bush band' who were lots of fun. Ironically enough considering their name the band is five...

I'm stuck in Life's Waiting Room at the moment. Rows of chairs in regimental lines, industrial grade nylon carpet making my hair stand up with static electricity, a faded print of one of Monet's landscapes on the wall, and dog-eared issues of the Women's Weekly from the dying days of the 20th century.

Waiting for the results of: job applications, uni courses, allergy tests, giving...

God, damn, bugger, bollocks, hell.

Despite the apparent Austen-ness of my name I am not easily, nor happily, reconciled with the spinsterish celibate character with which I have been cast.

So dearest Authour of this Divine Comedy, whom-so-ever you may be, could you please try a little less Bronte, and a little more Beardsley as you sketch out the plot for 2006?

(I confess I...

Miss Bikini Model 2005. Oh, the bilious ignominy. I used to live with a particularly inane, coke-afflicted Ralph girl - complete dullard, thank Christ; if she had had a platitudinous IQ on top of those tits, I would have been all the more appalled - who seemed to enjoy mocking my short pallid, lack of photogenic prowess by sauntering around the place, clad in little but a transparent v-string. I'm surprised you slept at all - I needed the parents' auspicious labradoodle's body weight in soporifics just to relax enough to eye off my brothers' sinister tableau of plasticized harem-girls without lapsing into complete hysteria.

No Bronte. I won't bloody have it, unless it's bastardized in Kate Bush form. 2005 was a little Norman Mailer cum Henry Miller for me - this year I'm trying for Stella Gibbons, or at least something vaguely wholesome. Like Graham Greene. Er.

Hey Missy....so we doing this girls night out or what? I need a naughty night out with the girls...Let me know when your free & as Blacklamb said, we'll get some trouser action...biggrin

The Great Sydney-Albury-Sydney Odyssey 2006

Highs
- Air-conditioning!
- Overtaking lanes
- Foresight of making 6 hour long playlist for iPod (starring the Buzzcocks, The Donnas, and Regurgitator et.al.)
- Rounding down anything between 115-120km/h to 110km/h.
- As driver I was not a car-sick passenger.
- In fact as had no passengers there was no car-sickness at all.

Lows
- Feeling morally obliged to...

A lightning journal entry before I disappear into the deepest darkest realms of country NSW again. Albury, argh do any of you have any idea how bloody unbearably hot it is/will be there!

(Must remember to buy a thingy so I can play my iPod through the car stereo since I will be driving all the way there and back alone, and from years of...

Have pondered the picture problem, and promise to produce pretty portraits, photoshop pending!

Am feeling oddly alliterative for 3.41 on a Friday morning.

Too hot to sleep, too restless to read, will while away the hours until I must stir out of bed reading YOUR journals! I expect to be riveted.

Am feeling lonely as usual.

Even though I'm working full time I have devoured four novels in the past five days in a vain effort to live vicarously through fiction. It is not working as well as I had hoped. Will try switching to non-fiction tonight.

Thinking of getting a pet rock (you know one with the googly eyes) to talk to.

Have been busy. No luck with coffee guy, or hot friend who apparently is no longer polite enough to reply to my awkwardly arch emails. Again no potential love interest for me. After 2.5 years I'm getting pretty... well cross is the most honest adjective.

It was my youngest brother's 21st Birthday party on the weekend, which meant a lot of cooking, cleaning, passing around...

does he wear those effing shirts with the writing printed on them? like old style news print splashed on one side at the front of a button up, striped shirt.? they go well with that haircut
which started out as what we used to call the "weekend mohawk".....

ahem. anyway, besides that i had a bad xmas work party on fri nite and bailed an hour into it.
ah well, new years is coming up wink

Ta for the birthday wishes. It was, of course, a depressing mundane exercise in masturbatory self-pity. wink

Abominably belated, I know (the traumas of moving house and subsequent Internetlessness make for a more-neurotically-frazzled-than-usual and tardily rude Neurotica) but...

That "Oh, Ron, don't get your wand in a knot" was triumphed only by the eyebrow-raising dementia of Barty Crouch's son's tongue-flickering at poor Snape, Snape and Karkaroff's shifty glimpses at each other of the-love-that-dare-not-speak-its-name-esque shame, Snape and Harry's four seconds of moisteningly heavy eye contact, and Harry's Nabokovian bath scene of clotheslessness. Mmmm, Nabokovian clothelessness. I hadn't squealed with such repulsive girlishness since I first saw The Labyrinth.

Your vain metrosexual brother sounds like he ought to go bowling with my vain metrosexual brother. They're about the right age too. Mine also has a horribly saccharine Russian child-bride whom he exchanges illiterate SMS love-poetry with.

Moronic things I did today:

1. Got out of bed at 5.30am and went for a run... it was wet and dark.
2. Actually enjoyed run in wet and dark.
3. Spent train ride lusting after evil capitalist pig stockbrokers in their expensive suits.
4. Bought coffee at Wynyard station like I do every morning, even though I hate coffee, because the coffee guy is...
