When I say I recycle I don't mean just put all the crap into a bin and set it curbside. I actually Mean I make a continuous conscious effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as possible. It's a passion of mine. It irks me how much we throw away every day. Especially at work. The amount of garbage we throw away at work is astonishing. I mean we have a department dedicated to throwing away garbage. It works all three shifts. Sure they recycle. Only one thing. Product that was dropped on the floor or ruined in some other way. Just the product. Not the containers or the boxes.
I do take my recycling to the extremes. I don't shower as often as most people. I keep my electricity usage to a minimum. I don't use hair/skin care products except to clean myself. It's amazing how much skin care companies throw away. I don't wash clothes as often (except socks and underwear because that's just nasty). I do use deodorant daily. Wait is that a skin care product? I do wash my hands often. Sometimes I wish we were a third world country. They use a lot less then I do. I mean 10 times less then me. Most people seem to use 10 times the amount I do.
With the digital age among us, we all use a little less then our parents did. But we still use way too much. The guy that invented plastic ruined the earth but made our lives so much easier. Is it worth the cost? Let's fast forward 50 years. Will it still be worth the cost?
Are you doing anything to make the environment better around you? How's your carbon footprint? Do you have that big SUV/Truck or do you have a gas sipping car?
Buy food from your local farmer instead of your local grocer. Find a butcher to cut your slabs of meat. Buying food locally supports the people around you and greatly reduces your carbon footprint. How do you find these things out? Look for a Muslim. I know you know where they are. They are support your local environment and friends much more then you do.
Here's a footprint to show you what you do to your environment:
If we all did just one thing to reduce any part of the foot, we could make our world healthier.
