I hate back pain! I hurt my back about six years ago and killed my sciatic nerve: it hurts like a bitch! I found that the drugs they gave me made me feel spacey but didn't dull the pain, so I researched the injury on line on my own and found some yoga stretches (like the Child Pose) to do: after about three days of doing the stretches, I felt better. Maybe it will help you too?

You have to rent the season of Dexter that just came out on DVD yesterday; it was a series that premiered on Showtime last year and I was completely addicted. It's a show about a guy who works as a blood-splatter expert but navigates as a serial killer at night. It's twisted and hilarious, and you'd love it.
