For those of you who care
Last week the Senate attached a provision to the budget bill that would allow oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). This issue has come up time and again since Bush took office, and it has always been voted down. However, by attaching it to the budget bill, it could pass. Voting on this issue will take place this week, most likely tomorrow.
KEY TARGET SENATORS

Even if one of the Senators above does not represent you, you should still at least send an e-mail urging our congressmen to stop this. Better yet, call 1-888-WILDAK to send a FAX and leave a voice-mail for your Senator.
BP, Conoco-Phillips, and Chevron-Texaco have all withdrawn from Arctic Power, the oil industry's pro-ANWR-drilling lobby group. That leaves only Exxon Mobil. This is a good talking point, as well as a good reason to boycott Mobil and Exxon stations.
Every state has two Senators, and many have two Republican Senators, some in which one supports drilling and the other opposes it. In my own state, Voinovich is a key Senator. You may hate DeWine, a sentiment with which I would agree. However, DeWine opposes ANWR drilling, and is somewhat of an environmentally-friendly Senator in general. This is also a good talking point, esp. since he is a Republican from Ohio.
Some good resources on the issue include Audubons Protect the Arctic site, the WWFs ANWR Take Action page, and EcoPledge.coms Exxon: Keep the Arctic Wild Campaign page, just to name a few. Arctic Power supports ANWR.org, which is a pro-drilling site, of course, but one can learn how to argue against drilling by looking at the opposing sides claims.
Im not trying to start any debate here, just get the word out. Once again, this is just for those of you who care.
