i've renamed my bunnies. i adopted them and they came with the names peter and alice, which is very cute and i do love beatrix potter and alice in wonderland, but i just don't think those names quite fit the household. peter and alice might feel a little insecure next to the names 'atari', 'vectrex', 'zx spectrum' and the ghosts of 'kaleeko' and 'channel f' are still around.
so peter and alice have become deiter and malice. and there is something about the pink eyes that goes with the name deiter. and malice does like to kind of charge at me in an unsettling way.
but today was a success. i let them have a little time to acclimatize themselves-meaning they're allowed to poop and pee in their special area despite them already being potty trained. i decided to establish myself as top bunny and they love it!
i picked deiter up for the first time, up and out of his corral, and pet him. i did the same with malice. and then they weren't afraid to come out of their sectioned off corral to explore. they were sniffing near me and i felt so much hope for our futures. immediately after going back to their area they both used the litter box! and malice even did a jumpy leapy bunny move.
and, like guardian angels out of the blue, the closest people i have to parents unexpectedly were in florida from new zealand and made a long drive up to visit me for about 6 hours. i hadn't seen them for years and years. when they left i couldn't stop crying for a myriad of complex reasons, but the little bunny jumps brought me back into now.
