what's new? deiter and malice, the bunnies, dug a hole under the wooden fence and got away, which is fine if they're safe and happy. i saw them hopping around out front. i have food and water out for them. maybe they can live like outdoor cats.

artist takashi murakami has agreed to an email interview. he's amazing. and i thought way too busy and...

my life got dramatically more complicated in the past week.....but instead of thinking about that i'll go walk the dogs and work on reading the impossibly inaccessible beginning of a jurgen habermas book.
all eyes on florida. i have people emailing me from around the world as international interest centers on the upcoming voting debacle. and of course these fabulous hurricanes.

i just unexpectedly caught a great documentary on pbs. stax. i think it's stax. featuring a watts music festival from 1973 juxtaposed with richard pryor commentary and a bunch of other stuff. i wish there was somewhere i could go out to that played stax record label 1972-1975 music. it was so inspirational. but i guess now i'll get back to reading adam smith's wealth...

I think I caught that documentary too - it was pretty cool. It totally got me wishing that I still had my parents old records.

Yup.

here's a totally disgusting story for all of you. i took my little dogs out last night to go to the bathroom. it was dark. my 4.5 pound skinny tiny dog was struggling going poop for a long time so i look down and some shit's hanging out of her ass. she can't seem to get rid of it so i took some leaves and...

Did Atari and Vectrex go flying through the house?
roxanne69:
We didn't have any problems through Frances....just a few trees fell on some lines close to the house, but our power stayed on the entire time. We just sat around for 3 whole days playing Nintendo and Sega.

I envy you....I haven't been dancing in so long.......do you ever go to Atlantic? Thursdays used to be the nights for Atlantic, but the last few times I went, the music sucked. I'm sure it's better again now that fall semester is in session. Haha, I think I may have just convinced myself to go.

i am so totally frustrated. i was suckered into getting cable television (which i've never paid for before) in order to have high speed internet connect instead of getting dsl and a phone line. so now i have a high cell phone bill and still the tv doesn't work. this isn't worth it.

plus, i was panicking the other night wondering if i were to...

I looked at your picture and I noticed phil guerrero.

I remember the days when he was PJ Phil.

*sighs*

anyways. nice to meet you. sounds like some shit sucks.

Whenever shit sucks I remember the following:

Nature uses few words:
when the gail blows, it will not last long;
when it rains hard, it lasts but a little while;
What causes these to happen? Heaven and Earth.
Why do we humans go on endlessly about little
when nature does much in a little time?

i've renamed my bunnies. i adopted them and they came with the names peter and alice, which is very cute and i do love beatrix potter and alice in wonderland, but i just don't think those names quite fit the household. peter and alice might feel a little insecure next to the names 'atari', 'vectrex', 'zx spectrum' and the ghosts of 'kaleeko' and 'channel f'...

I'm adopting bunnies today! White rabbits like Alice in Wonderland, with pink eyes. I felt bad wanting to adopt something so absolutely beautiful so I told the rescue agency that I would also be willing to take the less cute, non-white, deaf and blind in one eye bunny. But it turns out that white bunnies are virtually unadoptable because people are scared of the pink...

I seem to always adopt the deaf, blind, crippled and otherwise in need critters I meet. Most of them come to my ranch sick and are soon after spoiled. I've got quite a crew here now.

You ever go out dancing? I go out to brit pop, 80s night kinda nights - in Gville that is. You just seem like you might and that I've possibly seen you out before.

We've got some quality things in common and just wanted to say "hi". For one, you've got a big heart for animals like me. *hearts sqp*

Thanks to those of you who responsed to my query. I added some of your suggestions into the following encyclopedia entries.

PERSONAL/SOCIAL ISSUES IN.

Since the 1960s, American childrens and young adult literature has increasingly explored both personal and social issues. The civil rights movement along with Americas growing awareness of its multicultural citizenry have helped foster young readers interest in personal and social issues...

Fantastic entries. Fantastic references. I can't tell at all that you wrote them (or one) in 3 or so days. Great formating and your ideas are fluid. "A" material in my book. Although, you didn't capitalize "E.E. Cummings" in the second entry. I didn't mean to grade it, just a force of habit.

"The Bumblebee Flies Anyway" is a fantastic book, and I completely forgot about the Shel Silverstein books. "The Giving Tree" is a great one.

Sorry my info didn't help, but it seems you did just fine without it, haha...
d:
I thought e.e.cummings left his name like that?
Oh...and have you peeped any of Silverstein's "adult" shit?
pretty cool.

well, the entries are coming along, with the help of some good editing suggestions from lady weebat and good recommendations from various suicide girls and boys. thanks.
this descent into personal/social issues in children's literature has been a descent into a strange infantilism. last night it was raining and storming, so i wrote for a while and then curled up with shel silverstein poems. laughed...

hi. i have a question.
I am writing a little something aimed towards high school seniors and college undergraduates about Personal and Social Issues in American Children's and Young Adult Literature.

For you children's lit people, and everyone else, is there something you feel is very important that needs to be said, for example a text that you feel is mandatory in a discussion of,...

i went out and saw the twilight samurai. check out this small town charm. at the theatre, which is very quaint and charming, some guy came out to say, 'welcome...we have a video library here where if you want to borrow anything just write down your name, what you're borrowing and bring it back whenever you feel like it'. shocking. either this is a new...
