I had 2 models shedualed in today at the studio for 2 glamour shoots. !st one called me in the morning saying she had a sore throat and said she could come but was feeling really shitty.
Thing about models int he industry is that they are like school kids. They make up BS excuses all the time to skip class (Lets not get into examples) Of course being the super awesome person I am, i told her to stay home and drink lemon and honey water and sleep lots. Having the bitter things in the industry bite you in the ass doesn't mean I need to be a dick.
So just incase she was really sick I wouldn't want her forcing herself at the shoot making her condition worste. Also models who don't want to be shooting always show in the picture, and the results suffer. So I canceled the evening shoot.
the 1st model that was booked in at 12pm on the other hand also couldn't make it. Thing is....she never called, never emailed, and refused to pick up her phone. Which is totally unacceptable at all, and it just out right unprofessional and disrespectful.
As a model your are expected to follow direction, be professional, punctual and be ready. I don't need you to be paris hilton but if your going to model and you can't make a fucking shoot. You call the photographer asap. You don't just decide not to show up.
SO THAT KINDA PISSED ME OFF FOR THE WHOLE DAY. So here I was, 12pm, tired, at the studio, and no models. WTF DID I GO TO THE STUDIO FOR?!
Luckly for me David Hou who is my close friend and who I have been assisting in photography for awhile has his studio right next to mine (the building im in has several photography, video, graphic design and media studios in the same buiding)
So I went over to his studio, and I drank his wine and ate his food. Yay. Then Mario (the hairsylist) downstairs who is also our good friend comes up and starts to drink and eat with us.
Damn good lunch. After the eating and freeloading of davids studio I left and returned to my studio and remebered I had like 100000 loads of shit to remove and junk from the storage room downstairs. Still pissed off about the model not calling and not showing up I started my cleaning which took 5 hours of my life away....
sadness...
Later that night I took a 1 hour train ride out to another part of town to meet up with some buddies of mine for a Xmas dinner before I returned back to Ottawa (my home town 5 hours away) for a week of family Xmas time.
Yay.
