something i want to finish for my writing class.
please satan, give me strength to finish it.
-------
in the village, raquel worked at a panderia. she lived in the woodland areas against the towering sierra madre. everyday it was the same at la santa rita panderia, and every break-time was the same oddness. the oddness of hilda.
raquel watched hilda talk to herself in the breakroom and watched her smoke about half of pack cigarrettes in one sitting. hilda always had a pad of paper and pencil and would always be jotting things down. raquel would sometimes go the stove to get some more hot water for her herbal tea and would sneak a peek at the pad of paper. and everytime hilda would catch her looking. the eyes. hilda's eyes would penetrate raquel's soul and melted it for it brief moment. hilda's ghastly gaze was a hard thing to forget and stuck in raquel's mind like lingering faded light.
there was something about hilda. a darkness. it invaded raquels dream's at night in her meager home in the woods. one night raquel remembered something. an image she briefly caught in her mind that day of a small sketch in hilda's pad of paper. she couldn't get it out of her head. she woke her two sisters, who lived with her, to tell them about hilda and the picture. at first, raquel described it as two crosses and a curved arrow. then she decided to draw it for irene and sara.
after raquel drew it from the burnt image in her mind, she and her sisters realized they were looking at face. raquel gasped. sara pointed out that it looked like two upside crosses and a devil tail. raquel also remember it looked like it was dripping. sara said 'sangre.' blood.
--------
...it goes on and on...there's death, magic, curanderismo, the Devil, and blood written all over it.
please satan, give me strength to finish it.
