Morning SG, while getting ready for work thought I'd share my two favorite tattoos with you. The theme, if there is one, is the duality of all things. On my right inner forearm is a Valkyrie's Knot, or Valknot, with the rune for the life cycle in the center. Valknots used to be carved into armor or shields in the hope that a Valkyrie would notice the warrior's actions on the battlefield and choose them for Valhalla. To me it symbolizes acceptance of death, while the rune in the center symbolizes rebirth, that death isn't the end.
On my left forearm sits a Celtic infinity knot, with the Norse rune for destruction in the center. The knot serves as a reminder to live every day to the fullest because, as the rune symbolizes, death comes for everyone, each in our own time.
So on one hand, Carpe Diem. On the other hand, face life head on, never back down, be deserving of a Valkyrie's choice.
