I was leaving for work this morning and a homeless man stopped me on the sidewalk in front of my building. He wasn't asking for money or anything, he just said "G-d woke us up today because he wanted us to see this beautiful day." then "G-d bless you" . I returned the blessing and he walked away.
I got to work and my senior editor came over to my desk and asked if I was free the weekend of the 11th to go to Switzerland and cover the Geneva Motor Show. I said yes, obviously, so now I get a free trip to Europe. Then it was an absolutely beautiful day out, and since I had put in some extra hours last week, I knocked off a bit early to enjoy the day.
I looked for the homeless guy again when I got home. I felt like I should buy him dinner or something, but I didn't see him. I think that will still be one of the more memorable events of my life. Well, I'm going to go make dinner. There will be pictures when I get back from Switzerland.
