I have to go to birthday party at fucking Vista tonight. I don't much care for that kind of place. Don't get me wrong, the location is fine, actually quite nice; but if a bar has a "selector" at the door, then I won't like it. A friend of mine actually owns this place, I went there with Fishtotem once for a "friends only" night and had a really good time, but Thursday night will be a different story. I'm on the list and friends with the owner and I'm sure I'll still end up being told to wait at the door. I don't usually react well to being told what to do, some of you SG Israel people have firsthand knowledge of that, and if I'm told to wait I'm just going to have to walk away. I honestly don't know how I end up in these situations. Jonah is a good friend, but I never thought I would someday end up with friends who want me to go to a place like that. That never happened when I was hanging out with the skinheads back home, to be fair, the few skinheads I know here wouldn't do this to me either.
I guess this is one of those things about being an expat, you end up with a bunch of friends who you probably never would have crossed paths with back home. I'm mostly in favor of this, there are plenty of people outside of my little subculture who are still worth knowing, but there are also a fair number of things that remind me why I spent so many years avoiding these people.
Anyway, sorry for the negative turn this has taken. I'm in a bad mood because I was in line at the grocery store today behind some girl who was buying rice cakes, granola bars, diet coke and nothing else. Seriously, hundreds of shekels worth and nothing else. I'll leave you with Bill Hicks, since he said it better:
