A bit of backstory, to set up this argument. I work with a bunch of 30-year-old kids (trust me, when you reach my age, people in their 30's are absolute children). With only one exception, they have NO idea what a work ethic is. Mommy and (maybe?) Daddy never bothered to teach them right from wrong.
But we will focus on one individual. Let's call him "Adam", because that is the actual name of the dipshit in question.
Adam comes to work late, more often than not, if he is not calling out sick. Always has some bullshit excuse. Adam works at half speed. Adam milks the overtime system shamelessly, sitting in parking lots and taking naps on the clock, because we are in a Union and they have not yet found a way to fire his dead weight. Adam on a good day is a forgettable nuisance. Adam on a bad day? Makes everyone else's job harder. Don't be like Adam.
The moral of this rant? Everyone I work with says, "I like him as a person, but he is a terrible coworker." I call BULLSHIT.
Character is character. You either have it, or you don't. If you are a useless, lazy piece of lying shit in the workplace? You are probably a nightmare in your personal life, as well. I refuse to "like you as a person." Fuck you. Do your job first, earn your keep before you tell me jokes, asshole.
DO NOT coddle these people, on any level. Someone has to teach them a lesson.
