Well it's the 34th Americas Cup in San Francisco, we write the year 2013 a year of the written future from the past, and the new racing yachts spreading their utopian flair throughout the Bay and the rest of the world. When could you ever see a boat going faster then the wind before this time.
Why I'm writing this blog? Well, from the last, the 13th race, we all can learn a lesson from.
The last races haven't been to an advantage for the New Zealands. When they are in lead, the race gets canceled, because of to much wind, or the race will be ended, because it was to less wind, to finish within the time limit.
As we know the Americans don't contribute to the finest style of racing, because they couldn't show what they have been talking about in the beginning. It seems they bring it down to a battle, a war of elimination, with all kind of tricks as long it will be in the extension of the rules. Well you could apply to the meaning, Well played!, but you can't argue about the picture of a fair sportsman would be like. All of all, do we want to see a Wrestling Fight rather, or Honors the Sport of Sailing.
It might be a harsh drawing to throw out there, but it has been growing more to a Loney Toon Race, a la Road Runner VS Wile E. Coyote.
But do we want to compare the probably most expensive sport event ever to a cartoon? The evil mind after the smart and good guys? Is it a parody of life, the actual refers of the American Way of living, that it doesn't matter what and how you do it, it's the most important thing to win?
Anyway, rather asking to much about the American Spirit of life, we should focus on the lesson of today.
It seemed until today, that the New Zealands have been the better sportsmen, and have been showing more of a fair game, until today. Something, went definitely wrong, when they tried to apply more to the aggressive way of sailing as the Americans do, and went for their way of right. They ended up with a penalty and lost their good winds too, followed by to many little mistakes.
What seemed to happen was, that the Americans made it to their race, of low class comedians. It's a sad picture after all, that the Kiwis, which have been practicing a fair race the whole time, have joined the game to the Americans advantage. Well I think it's fair to say, it takes and asshole to fight one. And it seems that the Kiwis don't know what they got themselves into.
Well the lesson we learn about it is; Stay on course, focus on your own race and don't give up on what you believe in. If you want to switch your game to a more evil one, you better start up early, because even evilness needs a good practice to be challenged well.
I hope the Kiwis make a change back to their own good and finish up the race, to keep the Honors of Sailing their where it belongs too.
Well, let's see the next race and hope for the good.
I'm out
