Todays topic of conversation: Power Trips.
In high school, I was subjected to the antagonism of a small-town school rent-a-cop, the schools Security Specialist who took it upon himself to take his power trip into high gear, and threaten myself and my fiends with arrest for playing a card game. He decided that we were members of a satanic cult, that I was the leader, and that our card game was proof that we were dangerous heathen psychopaths, surely just a ritual or two from slaughtering a virgin in the woods somewhere.
I thought I would never witness a more pitiful, ridiculous, small-time power trip as long as I lived. I thought that I had seen the most petty, ridiculous piece of sniveling behavior in this mans desperate grasp at whatever piece of the world he could manage to make himself superior to.
Then I read this thread:

All of this out and out n00b bashing, this blatant hazing, this pitiful grasping for some superiority to these people who have just happened to do something a week or a month or a year after you did. Does it really deserve all of that? Is it really so heinously despicable a crime to be green? To be a quote-unqote n00b??
These pieces of behavior that seem to be so prevalent amongst people on the boards, this n00b labeling, this posting as a reply to a persons topic merely a link to some previous thread, as though repetition is a punishable offense? If youve read posts about a subject before, dont read the fucking thread! Let it go! Why must you lash out at these poor people whove just started reading the site, rather than just letting them figure things out as they go?
These so-called old-school people who participate in these petty and pathetic lashings are doing such an unbelievable piece of anti-advertising, its a wonder the administrators of this site dont ban them for doing it. I mean, if I had just posted my first thread ever on these boards, and the responses were like the ones poor stink_fist received, I would head for the hills. Thanks for the grand Fuck You welcome, oh high-and-mighty old-schoolers but you can keep your precious boards for yourselves if thats the kind of greeting you give. You could just not let anyone in who has less than 5000 posts in his history. How well would that work, do you think?
