I'm worried about my Sadie girl.
Very worried.
She's old.
She has arthritis, and her hips have NEVER been good, due to her abusive childhood at her first home.
She has fatty tumours ALL OVER her body.
We took her to the vet a couple of weeks ago, and she had x-rays, you name it, and they determined that it was just age and arthritis. in fact, we've had her to the vet four times since the beginning of the year, and they say her tumours are nothing to worry about, she just has arthritis, and if we give her *this* medicine, she should be fine.
Well, she's been getting the medicine every day now for two weeks, at $3 per pill, and she has gone steadily from being able to, barely, get up by herself but walk around ok whenshe does, to me needing to bodily lift her up everytime she wants to get up, helping her over door thresholds, off the porch, etc, she falls over at the slightest provocation, and its all because she apparently has a leg (the left rear one) which is beginnin to no longer respond to her.
She drags it a little when she walks, it won't support her weight, and she doesn't notice when it gets twisted around under her, around her, etc.
I came home 45 minutes ago, to her laying in the same spot I left her this morning, but her ass covered in shit, her bed covered in shit, and dropping shit behind her as I led her out the door.
She can't get up to poo, and so poos where she lays.
We've briefly discussed putting her down.
But she is still so alert, her eyes are full of life, she still loves to bark and howl at the horses (even if it is laying down now), and she mentally doesn't seem ready for it yet.
We're taking her back to the vet tomorrow morning.
Maybe it's a fatty tumour pressing her spine/hips/nerves that they can remove.
Wish me luck.

It's a terrible thing watching your pets get old and sickly, the one thing that sucks about loving pets and animals is knowing that they don't have a very long life span in comparison to us.
Good luck, and like HolaGatita said... maybe get a second opinion..
Derramax is one of the stronger meds for arthritus, if thats not working... there could be something else going on with her..
