Howdy.
So we've both been sick. At the St Paddys day thing, Regnas mom appeared with the flu, and she passed it to me, Regan, and my dad before leaving early for the hotel.
We felt fine on Saturday, when we went to see "Mrs Henderson Presents", a supposed comedy with Judi Dench, Bob Hoskins, and Christopher Guest about a British society woman who is widowed and decides to open a theatre with nude revues. It is pretty funny, but it gets pretty serious in the second half- a lot about WW II, and a little philosophizing on "sending our sons to war" and such. Good movie, but not quite the romp I was expecting. After te movie, we went to Headliners to see my buddy Mick's (my banjo dude) band at their CD release show. this is their third release. You can go to there website HERE and check em out. Some songs are downloadable- they're kinda New Grass.
So we stayed out past our bedtime Saturday, and Sunday we went to Regan's moms for the birthday party for Regan, her sister, and mom. They do a "3 in 1" thing. So we had a nice time, went to Japanese steak house for supper, hung out etc. By that night i was starting to feel pretty shitty.
Monday dawns, and I feel like I've been hit by 2 trucks- fever of 100.8, sniffles, coughing, achy joints, the whole bit. And Regan doesn't feel much better, even off she goes to work. It took me until noon to get up. I had to go into work- ihad taken the previuos Fri and Thurs (St Pats), and ad to get some stuff done, plus it was Regans birthday and I hadn't gtten her her gift yet. plus she wanted me to cook dinner for her.
I drove all over town and could ot find her gift, which the stores had had literally a cupleof weeks before. ( wanted to get her the David Sedaris box set- all his tuff read by him on fourteen CDs, or the Calvin and Hobbes collection, all the CandH ever done in 3 hardcover books- ended up getting her Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's "Good Omens"and ordering the Sedaris on Amazon)
To make a long story short, dinner was probably one ofthe most bizarre I've evr made, we were both to sick to do much besides look at it, and the week sucked from sickness. i've pretty much shaken it off, but we had to take regan to the Emergency Care Center yesterday. it's turned into sinus infection on her.
Friday we went to see our friends
LePetomane Theatre Ensemble friday night, do their new piece Ban: An Appeal. Funny stuff- they are very original- lots of Comedia influenced clowning and such. We hung out after the show a bit, and it did Regan in. Not to mention the 3 hours of tattoo work she had done on friday. She is getting a new full sleeve tribal- will cover a couple of things. Here's the outline she had done.
And since I have never posted the one I got last fall, here it is.
I'm in love with it.
So yesterday we pretty much did very little, besides the Emercency Care Center and vegging on te computer and in front of the DVD. Watched Stand By Me. Great film.
And I shovelled gravel. Ten tons of gravel. Lets be fair, and say I levelled 10 tons of gravel. Still not done in fact. Here's what it looks like today.
Doesn't look much like a driveway yet, does it?

Thank gods for friendly neighbours with tractors.

by the way, thankyou for making "dystopia" from my journal word of the day! Haha, it was nice because you sort of sounded like you appreciated my intelligence by that little comment... which is good because a few people around these parts recently have been suggesting that I'm... well... stupid

Yo, I've applied to be the Volunteer Co-Ordinator for this year's Artsfest. (Birmingham's smaller-scale equivalent of the Edinburgh fringe.) So I'd be recruiting and training all the volunteers who work the festival. It's just a 6 month role, but that's the absolute limit I can take.
