I guess it is time for an update.
For those of you who read my journal entries from time to time.
My Father and grandmother have started chemotherapy and radiation.
For now they seem to be doing fine with it.
My grandmother is only in stage 1 of stomach cancer.
The only thing she has stressed about is the thought of losing her hair.
My father had to have all his teeth removed.
I do not have a very close relationship with him but over the past couple years its getting better.
As a result of our strained relationship and the medical issues in my family right now.
I have canceled or postponed all of my trips

In happier news.
I had dinner at my best friends house the other night.
I don't know what it is but I always leave his house with this just overwhelming sense of having the world by the balls.
He is my elder, my teacher, my friend.
He just seems to know so much about everything.
As some of you may or may not know my passion in life is being educated and educating others.
His wife is also an amazing cook ^_^
After dinner judy ( we had never really had more then casual conversation ) says she has something for me.
She had bought me a couple books on Buddhism, the movies "little buddha, 7 years in Tibet, KunDun, as well as making me Buddhist prayer beads. She then also gave me a beautiful statue of buddha. ^_^
It meant a lot to me.
While I am not yet Buddhist the DALAI LAMA says " Use the teachings of the Buddha to enhance your own religion or spirituality, You do not need to convert to gain from the teachings."
Growing up in a predominately white/christian/catholic community I feel organized religion is pushed and almost forced onto others. Especially kids.
As someone finding my own spirituality in my culture and within myself I really appreciate the non-conforming teachings of the Buddhist monks.
The End
