Went to Socal last week to see old friends and skate
I saw two old friends I was once very close to but had not talked to in 20 years
very insightful and meaningful experience about so many things that are part of me and how they developed and what the influences were
Then I got to see Mogulman from Socal who was the manager of Carlsbad Skatepark back in the late 70s and for whom I rode in the ASPO contests with the Carlsbad team. I had not seen Mogs or (another team rider that was there) Jeff Partain in 30 years, 8th grade pretty much. We got to go to the Bible Bowl in Santa Ana and I got to meet Santa Ana Dave and his super ripper daughter Julie Kindstrand. I had the best session of my life to date, such a blast..nicest people in the world. Then we hit San Diego since our connection was Carlsbad. First its Oceanside which is a killer little Grindline park but Socal style, Brad from Gravity showed up and was fucking it up good. Then Washington st, fucking way gnar but I got in some grinds and air. Then Encinitas which is just tits as pools go, so smooth and perfect. I also hit Fontanna 1&2, Montclair, Chino, Etnies and Costa Mesa. It was so much fun.
I can't wait to hit Europe next week when I go to Austria for a week. I am gonna skate a few days and then ditch my board and take off through Germany towards Amsterdam. I will take it as it comes.
I have been having a great time in between all of this with a really cool girl I met who likes to live and play like me. She is really sweet and giving. I'm gonna keep opening doors and going off...it used to come down to yes or no, now it's only Charge!
