(Before I start I just want everyone to know this really isn't meant to piss on anyone's parade.)
I'm happy for Obama's victory. I'm happy that my voting choice won out.
But I'm amazed at the reactions of people yesterday and today. It just seems that a lot of people are acting like everything bad has gone away now that he's president elect. I keep hearing the words "clean slate" and "change is here" That magically everything is fixed because of one election. And that frightens me.
I can't feel that way, yet. Since I haven't seen him do anything yet. We don't have a clean slate. All we've heard is plans and promises, which no matter how convincing are still plans and promises. Plus we all know how politicians can change tunes quite quickly once elected. I also know that when Obama takes office he is going to inherit a broken country. A system that has many major problems. Problems that he will most likely have to handle fast or the same country that is cheering his name now and saying "clean slate" and "change is here" will be yelling something vastly different.
That said I support Obama. I do think he is a step in the right direction and that his plans for change seem to be the right direction to go. I can only wait and watch his actions to see if he really is everything we hope he is.

I have hope. In his speech he seemed cautiously optomistic, I think he was trying to get that message out, that there's a looong way to go (but hooray for the road to better things )
