Time for Jackies school of imaginary rockPART 2.
For this lesson we will mainly be covering lead singer and working the crowdwe've used a broom, a parcel and a big plasic spoon for props today, but you can use whatever you wish
Lesson 1: learn to love your instrument.
Whether it be a mic stand, guitar, bass or drum kit
Performing on stage can be like making love to a beautiful woman.
Here is an example of me lovin my mic stand
You can also do this move during guitar solos for extra effect.
Lesson 2: Rock face.
whilst lovin your micyour audience are gonna wanna know that you are feeling the love back. Now this might take a bit of practice and you may wanna try it out in the mirror firstbut here is an example of my..EMO face..
Its not all about being hard and sometimes we all need a nice rock ballad So ive added another pic of an emotional rock face so you can practice at home!
Mainly you need to keep your eyes closed for this and your eyebrows need to be at a good 45 degree angle.
Sometimes, you need to just drop to your knees with all the emotion while doing this moveA slight bounce up and down is a rather good effect too..like so..
Lesson 3: hiding your identity and looking scary.
Now, Some rock bands like the idea of being anonymous and wear crazy make up or masks. I think this is a great idea and gives you a chance to experiment with your image. I decided to make myself a scary mask. You could make one too. I was inspired by the slipknot clown, but you could be whoever you wish..
grr. You could also use the mask in conjunction with your best rock scream.
Now some people might find the mask a little too scary. So you need to prove you are still a nice person with emotions like everyone else. You could do this by being seen stroking fluffy animals like kittens or bunny rabbits. We didnt have either for our class so I can been seen here stroking a set of leopard print ankle cuffs
Lesson 4: stage diving and meeting your fans.
Youll always get a few fans that wanna get close to you while your performing..so why not in true rock style. Sing to them as closely as you can get! Here is an example of me singing to my BIGGEST FAN
After getting your fans all worked up by singing to them. You could attempt a stage dive. Now this will also need practice and extra care. For effect, you could try and get extra height on your dive. Here is a couple of examples..
Notice my biggest fan watching in awe
you may want to take your mic stand with you and allow your fans to join in the songs
After the gig you should always take the time to meet your fans. Let them take a few pics with you and generally hang out for a while. Aways keep your rock face thoughthis is very important!
You may even want to take the time to do a couple of acoustic sessions with your biggest fans after the show
Well this concludes our lessons for today. Please go away and practice and we will continue our rock lessons next week.
a good night was had by all then.........
mmm looks like there is more on your guys faces than what you ate
